TIPS FOR LOADING YOUR CUBE
Before You Move In
- Create an inventory of what items are being packed. (example: photographs, written, or video tape).
- Loose small items should be packed into larger container or boxes.
- Label each box or container itemizing all contents inside them.
- All boxes and containers should be closed and secured.
- Keep boxes or container light enough for you to handle.
- Bubble or Paper Wrap all items that may break from shifting.
- Review what items cannot be stored in a CUBE (See Prohibited list below).
Moving Into a Cube
- Tightly pack each CUBE as shifting may occur.
- Load heavier items first into the container creating a stable base for lighter items to be put on top.
- Make sure to evenly distribute the weight of your CUBE, not having all the weight focused on one side.
- Keep storage keys and combination in a safe place you will remember.
- Do not exceed the weight capacity for each cube (2000 pounds).
- Secure each cube with reliable padlock when unattended or when packing is complete.
Prohibited Items
- Aerosol cans.
- Pharmaceuticals.
- Flammables.
- Live plants and animals.
- Perishable goods.
- Jewelry and gems.
- Controlled substances.
- Firearms and ammunition.
- Goods with high sentimental value.
- Fragile goods.
- Valuable documents.
- Antiques.
- Home Keys.
- Cash.
- Checkbooks.
- Vehicle Titles.
- Certificates, Stocks and Deeds.
- Passports.
- Or any other substance and materials whose storage, use, or presence are prohibited and regulated under state, federal, and local laws.
General
- Inventory the items you put into the ZipCube.
- If loading more than one ZipCube, note the unique cube number and corresponding contents.
- Load heavier items on the bottom, and lighter items on top.
- Use blankets or padding to protect furniture.
- Label boxes on all four sides.
- Load items you might access while in storage near the door of the cube.
- Do not load dangerous goods, flammables, or prohibited items.
- Do not store any food items, liquids, live plants or animals.
- Consider Stored Property Insurance.
Furniture
- Disassemble large items such as tables and bed frames to save space.
- Put hardware in plastic bags and tape to furniture.
- Load soft and light items in drawers to save space.
- Use tape or straps to secure drawers.
- Use original packaging whenever possible.
- Wrap in bubble wrap or blanket.
- Bind chords and cables and label as needed.
- Place mattresses and box springs in a protective bag.
Bikes
- Disassemble whenever possible to save space.
- Wipe down exes oil and grease.
- Use plastic bags to protect other furniture when loading.
Electronics
- Use original packaging whenever possible.
- Wrap in bubble wrap or blanket.
- Bind chords and cables and label as needed.
- De-frost and dry out refrigerators before loading.
- Load with doors slightly open to avoid mildew.
